You and i know what Rock is ( not the stone ) . We have been influenced by thousands and thousands of songs but still some are pure legendary. This is an original post and if you find this similar to any post then , I DONT CARE.
Lets have a look at My all time favorite Rock Songs :
It is a song by Freddie Mercury and originally recorded by the band Queen for their 1975 album A Night at the Opera. The song is in the style of a stream-of-consciousness nightmare, and has unusual musical structure for popular music (it has no chorus, instead consisting of seemingly disjunct sections including operatic segments and an a cappella and heavy metal part). Despite this, it was released as a single and became a huge commercial success. In addition, the song is widely hailed as Queen's magnum opus, and it marked a decisive point in the band's career and set them on the way to become one of the world's most popular music groups. The single was accompanied by a groundbreaking music video (then termed a "promotional video") which helped establish the visual language of the modern music video. A truncated version of the song was included in all Queen's subsequent live concert performances (it is impossible to reproduce live in its entirety, being a complex studio creation) and still enjoys great popularity around the world. It is ranked #163 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". But people call it the best song ever written , for me it is True.
You wanna relive the moment and see the legendary freddie and his band queen sing the best rock song ever ? Here you go :

Thanks azure islands for your comment s and yeah we all sure do have different tastes :)
Thanks for the comment and stay tuned in for more :)
You should do more research.
Aretha Franklin is not "rock", its R&B-Soul type.(Rhythm abd Blues)
Beatles is more or less Pop.
Nirvana is NOT AT ALL ROCK, its Grunge.
Beach boys - again pop.
You should rename the title from Best rock songs ever to "some of my favorites".
oh yes, you've left out A LOT of good songs. But then 1 week isnt sufficient time for research for a topic like this.
First u get ur facts straight Sathya. Here are few Links to prove u how bad u r at music :
http://www.rockonthenet.com/archive/2000/vh1rocksongs.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respect_%28Aretha_Franklin_song%29

Next time be careful before u doubt my research.
Hah. My taste in music is poor?
I dont need a "XXX Guide to all time fav rock songs".
1. Respect is a Soul genre of song, like I mentioned. Head over to Wiki and check the genre
I'm telling you again researchmy points properly. All are valid. If not research atleast listen to 1 of the songs.
1. There are many more things than a damn wikipedia. Head over to wikipedia and see for usrself it was included the in famous rock and roll era, it was in the rock and roll hall of fame and lastly and most importantly PROVE VH1 wrong first and then PROVe me wrong.
Listen to atleast 1 song ? dude do u know what research is ? I have listened to these songs so many TIMES that i can even write down the lyrics infront of u.
I have researched all MY points and I know about them better than anyone .Chk the links i gave u again.
So, VH1 says its a rock song and you believei t? Tomorrow VH1 will say Britney is the greatest Metal Singer and you'll believe it?
Song being in a Roll and Roll era and SONG BEING A ROCK SONG are totally different
Oh so you know lyrics? So that does mean you know which genre it belongs to? If you've listened to rock songs you'll know what Rock is and definitely agree that Respect is NOT rock. Jeez.
shame, u dont know what rock song is ! i know bcoz u called beatles a non rockband and nirvana's song smells like a teen spirit not a rock song ! awww cmon man i didnt expect such things from u atleast !
Vh1 consists of people who have BETTER musical knowledge than u so try not to be better than them. And yes many urls say Respect is a rock song ! Maybe u r confused about the meaning of rock ? its not ELECTRIC GUITARS ! See the last paragraph of my post and u will know why i warned .
Rahul, I enjoyed your blog, but I have to agree with Sathya.
I am probably older than both of you and I am not sure how much research you did but I looked at your research links and well some of them didn't work but I thought I would take a spin to make sure I spoke before I posted.
For the record research is not attained with one web link as you posted. For example, Aretha Franklin is R&B and not rock. Here are several links that dispute your theory.

I could go on and on about the other pop artists. But your reader Sathya is right on all counts.
Sorry, regardless this blog was fun and took me down memory lane. thanks for sharing.
Peace and keep up the groove
well what else is left to say , i seriously blame VH1 for this if i am wrong , actually while researching i found huge number of links giving Respect a postion in top 10 rock songs and when i saw Vh1 gave it No.2 i was like " THIS MUST BE IN THE LIST "
Thanks for the comment Word smith and i am glad i took u down the memory lane :)
Stay tuned in for more !
Awesome list! Hotel California is my absolute favorite but I liked every song you chose. Thanks for sharing. Music makes the world go round!
Thanks a lot for the comment Kelly and i am a big fan of your music blog and its great to see someone so dedicated towards her blog !
Thanks for the appreciation and keep up the great work ;)
Take care !
I have to agree with all but the Nirvana. Yes, they were a very influential band, but grunge rock killed the hair bands. I miss my 80's/90's hair bands....sigh...:)
AWw thats awesome , you are so lucky to be in that era , i just wish if i could be with you all with headbanging peeeps and we could have loads of Rock and roll :D
Thanks for the comment :)
hey bro'
yeah so what if all the songs r not rock....i luv bohemian phapsody specially since the time constantine performed it on american idol.....u rock!!!!
I quite like the list and have to agree with most others that this is not an entirely rock list. Although i must admit that I hate to put the likes of The Beatles in the pop category like Sathya mentioned. I prefer to look at them as a Rock n roll band, with the likes of Chuck Berry, Jerry lee lewis, Elvis, Buddy Holly etc.
Well here are a few bands i can suggest you add to the list,
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird/Sweet home alabama
Ac/dc - Back in Black/Thunderstruck/TNT/etc
well just gonna name bands else this will take for ever lol,
Scorpions, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Twisted Sister, Doors, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Motorhead, Steppenwolf, Rainbow, Dio, Def leppard, Alice cooper, Motley crue, Kinks, The who, Creedence clearwater Revival (CCR), Status Quo, Van Morrison, Bob seagar, Bob dylan, well these are just a few from the 60'n 70's if u include the 50's and 80's the list will be endless me thinks. Hope it helps, have fun.
